Founded in 1825, it was purchased by Japanese group Nikka in 1989. Ben Nevis is one of the rare distilleries in Scotland to have been around for nearly two centuries. On the mainland of Scotland’s west coast, at the foot of the biggest mountain in Britain which shares its name, Ben Nevis is renowned for its ageing process in sherry casks.
