THE STORY

  • CUBA IS AN ISLAND AND COHIBA ITS TREASURE.

Conjured from the island’s exceptional soil by the genius of its creator, Don Eduardo Rivera, this sublime “Puro” was adopted by Fidel Castro in 1963 for his personal enjoyment. Three years later the cigar was renamed ‘Cohiba’ from the native term for tobacco before the arrival of Christopher Colombus, but it was not made available for purchase until 1982. Since then, the circle of aficionados has grown steadily. Today, no other “Habano” cigar can rival its reputation for excellence. All it lacked was an ideal companion. To answer this need, Martell has created Cohiba Cognac.

  • MARTELL, THE CREATION OF SUCH A UNIQUE COGNAC CALLED FOR AN INSPIRED AND INDEPENDENT MIND.

In 1715, Jean Martell started the first of the great cognac houses in the town of the same name. Martell was soon exporting its cognacs around the world to markets that ranged from nearby Britain to the furthermost bounds of South America. His successors carefully preserved that spirit of independence and the inspired vision for making exceptional cognacs that carry the Martell name the world over. The house of Martell found a soul mate in Cuba in the guise of Cohiba, the island’s jewel. Once again, vision and inspiration give birth to a unique cognac, Cohiba Cognac.
